Bandung (ANTARA News) – Korea (KOR) prevailed over Bahrain with a landslide victory of 6-0 in their 2018 Asian Games qualifying men’s soccer match at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung regency, West Java, on Wednesday evening.
Hwang Ui-jo scored a hat trick in the 16th, 35th and 42nd minute. Kim Jin-ya, Na Sang-ho, and substitute player Hwang Hee-tan each contributed a goal for Korea.
Bahrain began the match aggressively by attacking Korea’s defense. Korea, meanwhile, kept playing calmly and waited for Bahrain to make an error.
Bahrain threatened Korea’s goal through Sabba Husain’s shot, which went slightly to the left side of the post.
In response to Bahrain’s attack, Korea began to show its real strength. All of Bahrain’s players were forced to survive behind their defensive line.
Sixteen minutes into the game, Hwang Ui-jo scored the opener after receiving a beautiful pass from Kim Moon-hwan.
Korea launched a relentless attack on Bahrain’s defense, which resulted in Kim Jin-ya’s goal.
Korea’s players read Bahrain’s playing pattern and easily intercepted Bahrain players’ way before they could reach the penalty area.
Hwang Ui-jo notched another goal in the 35th minute, bringing Korea to lead with 3-0.
Na Sang-ho and Hwang Ui -jo added one goal each in the 40th minute and 42nd minute, ending the first half with 5-0 for Korea.
In the second half, Korea toned down its attacks and pressured Bahrain to play behind its defensive line.
Bahrain created two opportunities in the 72nd minute but goalkeeper Jo Hyeo-woo managed to catch the ball.
Before Japan referee Okabe Takuto blew the long whistle, Hwang Hee Tan scored a free kick goal, bringing the final score to 6-0.
Goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo was the star of the match as he managed to make four important saves.
